PAST EVENTS
Understanding AI: Tools for Everyday Life
The best part of this event was the immense curiosity of our seniors. The attendance was overwhelming! We asked ChatGPT to write an essay on Tagore, then requested the AI chatbot to translate it into Bengali. It even composed a letter describing the great poet to a relative. Mr. Debanjan Dhar provided valuable insights on how our members could integrate AI and ChatGPT into their daily lives. He was also adept at handling the numerous questions that came his way. Some of our members had an extra device next to them as they tried out ChatGPT themselves! As the session drew to a close, the demands for a similar event came thick and fast. Ms. B. Chatterji said, โThis is exactly the kind of training we need. With similar sessions, we will be able to keep up with the latest technology!โ
Childrenโs Day
What better way to celebrate Childrenโs Day than to showcase the talents of our membersโ children and grandchildren? We came together to do just that: with close to an hour of songs, paintings, dance performances, poetry recitations, and art objects collected from our members. The sheer variety of the talent on display was impressive, the talent outstanding. The evening ended with three generations, Ms S. Ganguly, her daughter and her granddaughter, singing Vande Mataram. A fitting end to a perfect celebration!
Bijoya Sammelani 1 and 2 โ 25 October & 1 November 2024
Our members came together to celebrate a virtual Bijoya Sammelani across two gatherings on 25 October and 1 November 2024. Enthusiasm ran high as members eagerly shared songs and poems, spanning from Rabindranath Tagoreโs works to modern Bengali classics. Over 100 participants tuned in, listening, encouraging, and contributing to an atmosphere of camaraderie and artistic energy. These two days of music and verse brought warmth and festive cheer to all. Our members’ admirable
spirit of participation keeps inspiring us to foster such heartfelt connections again and again.

NURTURING AND SHARING THE JOY POETRY BRINGS
"The crown of literature is poetry" - W. Somerset Maugham
Our poetry-loving members meet every week to enjoy the beauty of the verse. While some enjoy reciting poems by well-known poets, there are others who pen poems and are thrilled to dig out their long-lost poemsโpoems that they had thought had lost their value over the years. But we know that good poetry is perennial.
